LOWNDES TAKES SPA PODIUM FINISH
Craig Lowndes has taken a podium finish in the Spa 24 Hour race in Belgium over the weekend.
Racing beside Steve Wyatt, Andrea Piccini and Michele Rugolo in an AF Corse-prepared Ferrari 458, Craig took third in class and eighth place outright.
It was Craig's first GT race overseas and also his first 24 Hour race, but it wasn't his first experience behind the wheel of the prancing horse, after winning the Bathurst 12 Hour earlier in the year with Maranello Motorsport.
The team started the race from 16th on the grid on Saturday afternoon, working through the field over the next 24 hours to claim a well-earned spot on the podium.
"It's such a great experience being a part of a race like this," said Craig.
"Racing flat out for 24 hours around a track like Spa is really special.
"It was such a huge effort from the whole team to get us not just to the end of the race, but onto the podium.
"I really love racing the GT and I hope I can do some more of it in the future."
Craig beings the journey back to Australian shores today, ready for round eight of the V8 Supercar Championship at Queensland Raceway this weekend.
