CRAIG CAPS GREAT SEASON WITH SECOND
CRAIG LOWNDES capped off a tremendous 2015 season with second in the V8 Supercar Championship.
Always an outside shot of the title coming into the final races at Homebush with such a large points deficit, Craig had a challenging time in Saturday’s two shorter races before sealing second with a determined run to sixth in Sunday’s feature race.
“To finish sixth from where we started (today) was a pretty good effort and it was a great team effort to win the Teams Championship. The guys have worked really hard all year and it’s a credit to them,” Craig Lowndes said.

“Today we’ve been making good progress with the car. Homebush is always a difficult track being a street circuit. The track was quite dirty to begin with and is now beginning to rubber-in. The car is responding to that and I think today we made valuable adjustments and changes. At the end of the day I’m happy and we’re sort of where we thought we would be. Obviously we’ve got to keep working at it and tomorrow’s a new day, where I hope we’ll be right up there.”

“It was always going to be a tough day today from where we qualified. But I’m proud that we managed to fight back. We had a good run in Race One, it was a great challenge. In today’s second race we tried to jump in front of Frosty, but it wasn’t to be. He had a good car today and congratulations to him and the team for winning the drivers’ championship. I’m happy with today, as I said - where we started and where we finished, we made great progress. I’m looking forward to tomorrow and finishing off the year on a high.”

“I got a reasonable start today and really had to be patient. There was a bit of carnage in front of me and it was quite entertaining to be honest. Knowing that we had more fuel on board we just had to wait for our time. Once we got some clean air the car was quick and I was able to stretch out a few good laps in the middle part of the race, and bring it home from there.”
