CL HOLDS ONTO CHAMPIONSHIP HOPES AT SYDNEY
Wild weather threatened to dampen Craig Lowndes' Championship hopes at Sydney Motorsport Park over the weekend, but the Red Bull Racing driver proved why he is a major contender with a throng of gutsy drives throughout the round.
The ninth Championship event on the 2014 V8 Supercar calendar brought fierce rains to the Eastern Creek circuit on Saturday, before clearing on Sunday.
While two errors in qualifying proved costly for Craig's starting position for two races, he fought back to hold onto hopes of championship glory in 2014.
"We are still hanging in there," said Craig.
"You want to get out of the Gold Coast and see where you are. The next three races will make or break the Championship."
"It was great to be on the podium at this track and get those crucial points," Craig said.

- Storming drive in rain from the back of the field to 11th in Race 27
"The qualifying for race two was driver error when I came off the track and we just didn't have enough time to go back out and have another crack at it.
"All in all we were really happy and we had a good, strong race gaining ten positions in race two. Our car handled well in the wet conditions but we'll still be looking for a little bit of improvement. Tomorrow we'll be looking to the weather as the biggest factor and we'll be looking for all the grip we can get."
"I made a mistake coming through the last corner in qualifying today and after all the rain yesterday the grass was quite slippery which put me in the tyre bundle and damaged the car a little," said Craig.
